One Economy Launches What Inspires You? on the Public Internet Channel

What Inspires You?, an inspiring new video series available exclusively on the Public Internet Channel, highlights Shad Ireland's 4,639 mile cross-country bicycle tour.  Ireland, a dialysis patient for 27 years and Ironman triathelete began his "What Inspires You Tour" on May 1, 2009 in San Pedro, California, completing his ride on July 30, 2009 in Washington, D.C. The video series features education and prevention-related content about obesity, high blood pressure and diabetes-the leading causes of kidney disease.  To preview the first of 10 episodes click here.

One Economy hosted a series of events to celebrate the end of Shad's journey in collaboration with the Shad Ireland Foundation.  On July 30, 2009 hundreds of DC residents attended a health and wellness event at the Capitol Hill Safeway receiving onsite blood pressure screenings.  The day concluded with an evening reception hosted by Congressman Artur Davis (D - AL) at the Cannon House Office Building. The event was attended by numerous government officials and business executives, including representatives from National Kidney Foundation, George Washington University Medical Center and Fresenius Medical Care.

Digital Connectors" Program Receives Glowing Praise From California Public Radio:
Our renowned youth program, "Digital Connectors," is growing expotentially worldwide.  Just recently it was featured on the "California Report," a KQED produced radio news program carried by more than 30 different public radio stations throughout the state of California.  Listen to the broadcast here.

Meet the "Digital Connectors" and "Visit" the town of Pixley, CA here.One Economy's Digital Connectors prepares tomorrow's leaders through technology training and community service. There are currently more than a dozen Digital Connector programs operating in Central and Northern California.  To date, nearly 3,000 young people have contributed more than 56,000 hours of community service nationwide.

One Global Economy Set To Launch New Beehive in Nazareth, Israel
With generous support from Cisco Systems One Economy will build a Beehive for the city of Nazareth, Israel by the end of 2009.  One Economy plans to target both the Israelis and Arabs living in the city, the Nazareth Beehive will be accessible in both Hebrew and Arabic and will focus on issues relevant to the city's entire population.

Working closely with the Appleseeds Academy, an Israeli primary school, One Economy will create a training curriculum for managers in technology centers located in Nazareth.  One Economy and its partners are currently implementing the curriculum in Rwanda with twelve center managers who run the government-sponsored technology centers located throughout the country.  Apart from Rwanda, this training curriculum is also being implemented in Ethiopia, Kenya, Nigeria, and Cameroon.  One Global Economy is excited about the opportunity to increase and enhance the presence of its public-purpose media resources around the world.

One Economy Launches La Buena Vida on TheBeehive.org:A New Online Resource Aimed at Helping Latinos Improve Their Health
One Economy is proud to announce La Buena Vida (www.labuenavidalatina.org), a new section on the Beehive available for our Spanish speaking audience.  In order to provide more relevant content to the largest minority in the U.S., La Buena Vida aims to serve Latinos who want to improve their health, reduce unnecessary expenses, and protect the environment. La Buena Vida uses multimedia tools and personal stories to help Latinos improve their well-being and get the most out of life every day.
